Bring Your Best Chili—and Come Hungry!
Join us Thursday, October 15, at the Westwood Church of Christ Gymnasium for a fun-filled evening of chili, friendly competition, fellowship, and family fun!
Whether you're a serious chili chef, a backyard cook with a secret family recipe, or just someone who loves a good bowl of chili, there's a place for you at our Chili Cook-Off!

Contestant Doors Open: 5:00 PM
All Chili Entries Must Be Set Up: 5:30 PM
Judging Begins: 6:00 PM
People's Choice Voting: During the event
Winners Announced: 7:45 PM
The Warren County Republican Party will provide drinks, so come ready to sample some great chili and enjoy an evening with friends and family!
🏆 FOUR CHANCES TO WIN!
Every chili entered will compete in one of three categories, and each category winner will receive a $100 cash prize!
In addition, the public will select a People's Choice Champion, who will also receive a $100 cash prize.
That means there will be four $100 cash prizes up for grabs!
🌶️ TRADITIONAL CHILI
This category is for the classic chili lovers!
Traditional Chili should be a red, tomato-based chili featuring beef or another traditional red meat and familiar chili ingredients such as beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and traditional chili seasonings.
Think classic, hearty, flavorful chili—the kind that makes you want to go back for another bowl!
🍗 NONTRADITIONAL CHILI
This category is for chili that puts a creative spin on the classics.
Nontraditional Chili may include white chili, chicken or turkey chili, vegetarian chili, cream-based chili, or other recipes that don't follow the traditional red-chili style.
If your recipe is chili but doesn't quite fit the traditional mold, this is your category
🔥 WILD CARD
Anything goes in the Wild Card category!
Your entry does not have to be chili.
This category is for creative cooks who want to think outside the traditional chili pot. Soups, stews, specialty recipes, unusual combinations, unique meats, unexpected ingredients, and family creations are all welcome.
Have a soup with an unusual twist?
A hearty stew that's been a family secret for generations?
A recipe that doesn't fit the traditional or nontraditional chili categories?
An unexpected combination of ingredients that somehow works perfectly?
Put it in the Wild Card!
The only real rule is that your entry should be something you'd be proud to serve and excited for people to try.
Wild Card entries will be judged using the same five criteria as the other categories.
👨⚖️ HOW WILL THE CHILI BE JUDGED?
We will have three judges who will independently evaluate every chili entry.
Judges will score each chili in five areas, with each area receiving a score from 1–10 points:
Appearance — 10 points
Does the chili look appetizing and appealing?
Aroma — 10 points
Does it smell delicious and inviting?
Flavor — 10 points
How well do the ingredients and seasonings work together? Does the chili have good depth and balance?
Texture & Consistency — 10 points
Is the texture pleasing? Are the meat, beans, vegetables, and other ingredients cooked appropriately? Is the consistency right for the style?
Overall Impression — 10 points
How memorable and enjoyable is the chili as a whole?
Each judge can award up to 50 points per chili, for a possible 150 points from all three judges combined.
A chili does not have to be the hottest chili to win! Judges will evaluate flavor, balance, aroma, texture, appearance, and overall quality—not simply the amount of heat.
Judging will be conducted using contestant numbers so that the judges can evaluate the entries as fairly and independently as possible.

You'll get a chance to have your say!
Every chili entered in the cook-off will be eligible for the People's Choice Award.
Taste the entries, choose your favorite, and cast your vote.
The chili receiving the most People's Choice votes will receive the $100 People's Choice cash prize.
So contestants—bring your best chili!
And tasters—don't forget to vote!

Contestants are encouraged to bring any "fixings" or accompaniments they feel would make their chili stand out.

Bring it!
Creative presentation and delicious accompaniments are encouraged. Contestants are responsible for providing any special toppings, garnishes, crackers, bread, chips, or other accompaniments they want to offer with their chili.
👩🍳 WANT TO ENTER?
We're looking for 15–20 chili contestants to compete for the title—and the cash! Fill out the form at the top of this page to enter!
Contestants should arrive beginning at 5:00 PM for setup.
All entries must be completely set up and ready by 5:30 PM.
Contestants should bring:
Their prepared chili
A crockpot, roaster, or other appropriate serving container
A serving ladle or utensil
Any toppings or "fixings" they want to provide
An extension cord if needed for their equipment
Chili should be prepared in advance and kept at a safe temperature for serving in accordance with applicable food-safety requirements. Tennessee Department of Health guidance recommends maintaining prepared hot foods at appropriate hot-holding temperatures and using safe food-handling practices.

You don't have to be a contestant to enjoy the evening!
Doors open to the general public at 5:30 PM. $10 Admission per person.
Come sample a variety of homemade chili, visit with friends and neighbors, enjoy the evening, and cast your vote for your favorite.
Drinks will be provided by the Warren County Republican Party.

🏆 THE BEN NIXON MEMORIAL AWARD
2025–2026 Republican of the Year
During our Chili Cook-Off, we will have the special honor of presenting the Ben Nixon Memorial Award to the 2025–2026 Warren County Republican of the Year.
This award is presented in memory of Ben Nixon and recognizes an individual who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to serving our party, our community, and the principles that guide us.
The Republican of the Year is someone who has gone above and beyond during the past year—not simply by attending meetings, but by consistently showing up when there was work to be done.
This is someone who has willingly given their time, energy, talents, and service to help strengthen the Warren County Republican Party. They may have volunteered at events, helped with voter outreach, worked behind the scenes, supported party activities, recruited and encouraged others to get involved, or simply stepped forward whenever a helping hand was needed.
Most importantly, this award recognizes someone who has demonstrated a sincere commitment to Christian and conservative values, has worked to promote those values within our community, and has served with character, integrity, humility, and a servant's heart.

This month we are hosting a Candidate Forum featuring incumbent State Representative, Paul Sherrell, and DeWayne Howard, Candidate for the 43rd District.
Each candidate will begin with an introduction followed by a moderated Q&A session. Attendees with have the opportunity to submit questions in written form, which will be drawn at random. Both candidates will answer the same questions, giving voters an clear opportunity to hear directly from both candidates.
This is our chance to stay informed, engaged and involved in the future of our community.
